What the practice does

ORIGO is a legal practice working on citizenship by descent under Romanian law (Legea 21/1991). Our clients live in the United States, Israel, the United Kingdom and across Western Europe. Their ancestors did not.

That gap is the whole problem. An American birth certificate proves one link in the chain — your own. Every link above it was registered somewhere else: in a civil registry or a state archive in Ukraine, Moldova or Romania, often in Russian, Ukrainian or old Romanian, and often under a name spelled differently in every document. Those records are requested in person, in the local language, by someone with the legal standing to ask.

How a case runs

We start by finding the documents and reading what they actually say about your ancestor's status. We prepare the materials, obtain records under power of attorney, and build the line of descent. Record recovery is priced per document andquoted before any work starts; the cost of the full process is set once the line is assembled. Before the archives answer, nobody can honestly quote a total, and anyone who does is quoting a guess.

When the file is ready, a Romanian citizenship lawyer takes the case: filing with the National Authority for Citizenship in Bucharest and, if the decision has to be challenged, representation before the courts there. That last step is part of the practice, not an extra service bought from someone else.

What we do not do

• We do not promise a result. Romanian law gives no one a right to be granted citizenship on application, and any guarantee is a sales line, not a legal position.
• We do not promise a date. Cases run in years, not months.
• We do not find ancestors for people who do not have one. If the line does not hold, we say so and stop.
• We do not publish client names, case photographs or success percentages.
